Hong Kong’s Consumer Council Publishes Surveillance Report on Non-Stick Pans

2025.06.24

Non-stick frying pans, while convenient, can pose some health hazards, particularly when the coating is damaged or the surface over- or underheats.

Recently, Hong Kong’s Consumer Council published their surveillance report on such products where 24 models of different sizes were tested in accordance with the European Standard EN 12983-1:2023 for domestic cookware, with test items including heat conduction speed, heat distribution, coating performance and durability, and handle safety. Chemical safety tests were also carried out, including overall migration, extractable heavy metals, and the total content and release of PFOS and PFOA.
