SGS green marks presented to upcycled beer product by Maxim’s Group

2026.10.05

We are pleased to present our green marks – Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) – to the Original Bottle of Bread (BOB) Beer by Maxim’s Group, the world’s first food product recognized under our Environmental Claim Verification Scheme (ECVS).

Reducing emissions through circular brewing

Using surplus bread as a brewing ingredient substitute is estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 3.16%* compared with conventional beer production, with potential emissions avoided by diverting surplus bread from disposal pathways.

We conducted independent third-party verification in accordance with ISO 14064-3, helping ensure the reliability of the product carbon footprint data and environmental claims underpinning this recognition.

Voices from the collaboration
