SGS Hong Kong Recognized as Acceptance Testing Agency for Clothing Imports to China

SGS Hong Kong has recently been recognized as an acceptance testing agency for clothing imports as of October 2024, marking an important development for the company.  This recognition allows SGS HK to conduct testing for both adult and children's clothing, helping businesses ensure compliance with Chinese regulations.

Role of Acceptance Testing Agencies:

Acceptance testing agencies for import and export goods refer to organizations that meet the qualifications and capabilities required by customs and are listed in the directory of authorized agencies by the General Administration of Customs.

Standardization by General Administration of Customs:

To standardize the process for customs import and export goods, the General Administration of Customs established the "Management Measures for Customs Import and Export Goods Inspection and Accreditation (Order No. 259 of the General Administration of Customs).

Impact on Customs Clearance

These management measures came into effect on December 1, 2022. According to the regulations, customs will accept testing reports issued by acceptance testing agencies as a basis for determining compliance for imported clothing products that choose the accreditation method for clearance, which can effectively shorten the customs clearance time.

The implementation of the "Management Measures for Customs Import and Export Goods Inspection and Accreditation" is an important initiative by customs to promote high-quality development, practice institutional opening, and effectively protect consumer rights.
