What is Nitrosamines?

Nitrosamines are a well-known group of carcinogenic compounds. Its formation comes from the reaction of secondary amines (for example, dialkanolamines used in the production of dialkanolamides) with nitrosating agents (for example, impurity nitrates in raw materials) in cosmetic products.

NDELA is one of the representative compounds in Nitrosamines groups, which must not form part of the composition of cosmetic products in a number of countries' regulations, including (EC) No. 1223/2009 Cosmetic Regulation in EU. At the same time, nitrosamines content is also restricted to a maximum of 50mg/kg in mono- and tri- alkylamines, as well as mono- and tri- alkanolamines under the same regulation.
