Human Patch Test for Cosmetic Products
This test evaluates the potential of primary skin irritation in response to a cosmetic product under dermatologist supervision. This is a common study to support product claims like, 'dermatologically tested', 'clinically tested', and 'suitable for certain skin type'.
What is human patch test?
Human patch test is performed to evaluate the potential skin reaction (mainly primary irritation) in response to a single exposure of cosmetic products. The test sample (cosmetic product) is applied to the skin test sites of the subjects via a patch at a suitable concentration for 24 hours. The evaluation of skin reaction will be observed and assessed at 30mins (or 1 hour), 24 hours and 48 hours after removal of the patch.
A group of 30 subjects will be recruited in this study, which is carried out by professional experts and supervised by qualified dermatologists.
How is the test conducted?
The study is conducted on 30 subjects with observation and assessment at several time points after removal of the patch under professional experts and qualified dermatologists.
